Accessibility Statement
The healthcare system—and the internet—weren't always built with you in mind. At Chadwick Optical, our mission is to change that.
Our mission to help the "outliers" and the "complicated cases" doesn't stop at our lab door; it extends to our digital shop. If you have field loss, light sensitivity, use low vision magnification, or have a diagnosis that makes traditional online shopping a headache, we want you to know: We see you, and we’re working for you.
Our Journey to Doing It Right
We’ll be honest: we didn’t get it right at first. We initially used an accessibility "overlay" plugin, believing their claims that a single piece of automated software could perfectly make our site compliant.
We quickly learned better. Between industry reports of class-action lawsuits brought against businesses using those exact plugins, and our own realization that automated apps often feel like they were designed without ever talking to a person who actually uses a screen reader, we knew we had to pivot.
We realized that true digital accessibility cannot be automated by a plug-and-play app. It requires human intention. So, we removed the "quick fix" plugins and committed to doing the heavy lifting ourselves.
Accessibility Standards
We actively strive to meet and conform to the **Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA** standards. We use these legal and technical guidelines not just to ensure regulatory compliance under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but because they represent the floor—not the ceiling—of how we should treat our customers.
Limitations & Third-Party Content
While we systematically audit and optimize every page hosted on our servers, our digital storefront relies on third-party integrations (such as underlying database architectures and payment portals) to function. There may be times where elements outside of our direct control do not perfectly conform. We continuously monitor these integrations and push our vendors to keep their code universally accessible.
No Patient (or Practice) Left Behind
Digital optimization is an ongoing process. If you find a "blind spot" or experience an obstacle anywhere on our website, please let us know. We won't brush you off with generic corporate advice; we will actively investigate the issue and find a definitive way to fix it.
Stuck? Let's Talk Face-to-Face or Over the Phone
Technology is great until it isn't. If an interactive form isn't cooperating with your assistive software, a graphic element lacks clear alt text, or something is blocking your view, please don't fight with the website. We are a human-first, service-based company.
We provide full, equal alternative access to our store: our customer service team will gladly walk you through our entire inventory, read product specifications, describe individual frame designs, and process your order securely over the phone at no extra charge.
