What is ADAVI?

ADAVI stands for Affordable Device Attachment for the Visually Impaired. It’s an attachment/case combination that transforms your smartphone into a powerful, hands-free video magnifier. Once the ADAVI is attached, you’re able to use the native visual impairment functions built in to your phone model...hands free.

Transform Your Phone Into a Powerful Video Magnifier

ADAVI is comprised of 3 ingredients:

  1. A phone case for your specific phone model and generation
  2. A 3D printed attachment for that phone case, designed to allow you to attach the ADAVI in 5 seconds or less...with your eyes closed
  3. A half penta prism that aligns the image 45 degrees, allowing you to read a flat paper while the phone is angled comfortably towards you

How Does the ADAVI Work?

ADAVI is a custom designed, 3D-printed mount and phone case that does two things:

  1. It snaps securely onto the phone case. The design is so simple you can attach it with your eyes closed.
  2. It holds your phone at a 45-degree angle for reading. This allows you to view a flat surface - like a book or document - without having to hold your phone awkwardly.

A small, specialized half-penta prism mounts over your phone’s zoom lens and bends light at a 45-degree angle, allowing the camera to “see” what’s below while the 3D printed fixture holds your phone at a comfortable reading angle.

When combined with your phone’s built-in magnifier app with its low vision filters, you’ve got yourself a video magnifier for a fraction of the cost.

The Future of ADAVI

The ADAVI is in it’s early stages and will evolve to include multiple phone models and tablets. Luckily, our production methods are extremely flexible and these will be added relatively quickly. ADAVI is currently designed specifically for devices with a three-lens camera system. It will not work with single or dual-lens models. At this time, the ADAVI is compatible with the Apple iPhone Pro/Pro Max series (11-17) and the Samsung Galaxy S-Series (S21-S25) model is coming soon.


To find your device model and software version, navigate to the Settings app on either Android or Apple. On Apple devices, go to General then About to see the Model Name and iOS Version. For most Android phones, look for an About Phone or About Device section, which will list the Model and Android Version.
